On
Oct 16th 1946, a centrenary celebration
of "Ether Anaesthesia" was held
at G.S. Medical College. At that historic
meeting Dr. M.N. Desai, Dr. B. N. Sircar
and Dr. Talwalkar conceived the idea of
ISA.
The Society was established in 1947 &
held its first meeting under the ages of
the Association of Surgeons of India (ASI)
on 23rd & 24th Dec 1949 at G.S. Medical
College & the last joint meeting was
at the same Venue in 1964 at the Silver
Jubilee of ASI.
The G.S. Ambardekar Anaesthesia
Society was formed in 1963 following the
voluntary retirement of Dr. G. S. Ambardekar,
when he gave his purse of Rs 50,000 as a
locus for the Society.
In
1966, The Bombay branch of the ISA was formed
by the efforts of Dr. A. J Dhruva and the
